Petition: CHRISTIANS AGAINST PROSELYTISM
P.N. BENJAMIN Coordinator, BIRD. Bangalore Initiative for Religious Dialogue (BIRD) is a little lamp, lit and kept burning, by a group of kindred souls and fellow pilgrims who by their conviction, uphold the values of democracy and religious pluralism. Theirs is an inter-faith voyage of discovery, sailing on the winds of near identical views on people and events signifying that whatever the darkness, however profound the sense of lostness, the light of God’s love – be it Ram, Allah or Jesus - will continue to shine, for those who have the eyes to see, a heart to love and a soul to believe. BIRD’s premise is simplicity itself -striking a match in a dark immense cavern, to dispel the surrounding gloom.

Evangelicals say they use power of God in Africa — critics slam "cultural conversions"
source: Arizona Daily Star, March 2, 2007 ALER, Uganda — "Telephone to Jesus. Hello?" the children of Aler refugee camp sing, their bare feet thumping the ground as they dance wildly in their concrete chapel. Most camp residents have never used a phone, but they are learning about Jesus. The Rev. Franklin Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, smiled as he watched the children — members of a club run by Samaritan's Purse, the Christian missionary organization he leads.

Environmentalism: The Devil’s handiwork
source: Prince George Free press, March 2, 2007 By - Kamloops This Week Mar 02 2007 Now that’s a relief! The warmer winters? The violent windstorms? The ferocious hurricanes? All those deadly tornadoes? The melting of the ice up north? Not our fault, after all. It has been revealed that global warming is the work of the devil, whose primary aim these days seems to be turning Christians into environmentalists, instead of the evangelists intended by God.

150 convert Christians return to Hinduism in Himachal
source: Himavani, March 1, 2007 Shimla: It was a moment of pride for all those who believe in the basic values of Indian culture and fundamental rights when 151 men, women and children were given an opportunity to return to their original faith. They all belong to Scheduled Castes with fragile economic condition and were converted in to Christianity by allurements during past several decades. When their struggle to achieve equal social and economic status within the Christian community failed to yield results and they were just thrown away like used commodity, they realised the folly.

Evangelizing Evolution: Science, Religion, and the Missionary Methodology of Mimicry
Tim Mitchell On February 12, the New York Times ran an article entitled "Believing Scripture but Playing by Science's Rules" by Cornelia Dean. The article was about a student at the University of Rhode Island, Marcus R. Ross, who submitted a dissertation in December 2006 to finish his doctoral degree in geosciences. His dissertation was about mosasaurs, a marine reptile that disappeared at the end of the Cretaceous era around 65 million years ago, and was described by one geoscience professor in his department as "impeccable." While this sounds like a rather mundane subject for an article in a major U.S. news publication, the story has an unusual twist: Ross is also a "young earth creationist" who believes that the Christian Bible is literally true in its descriptions of the origins of the universe, and that Earth itself is at least 10,000 years old. When asked how he can reconcile two very different world views in order to create a Ph.D. level dissertation, the article explains:
