US priests ‘in $800,000 theft’

source: BBC news, 22 January 2009 Two Roman Catholic priests have been accused of stealing $800,000 (£577,000)from the collection plate of their church in the US state of Florida. They allegedly planned to spend the money on property, holidays and gambling.  

Evangelist claims Rajasekhara Reddy had sought $5 million

Study finds embezzlement to be common in dioceses

A new study by Villanova University has found that 85 percent of Roman Catholic dioceses in the United States have discovered embezzlement during the last five years, with 11 percent having been embezzled out of more than a half-million dollars each.
