BJP leader says vested interst behind US, EU countries’ support to Nepal

KATHMANDU, June 01 : Visiting Vice-president of Bharatiya Janta Party Bhagat Singh Koshiyari on Saturday claimed that the United States, European Union and many other western countries have been supporting Nepal with the vested interest of converting Nepali people to Christianity.

Addressing an interaction at the Reporter´s Club in Kathmandu, Koshiyari said that Indian support however is not guided by any such vested interests.

“Several attempts have been made to make the Hindus covert to Christianity. This is a crime and such activities should be stopped immediately,” he said.
“As more than 80 percent of the people in Nepal are Hindus, the country is a Hindu country but we are not in a position to comment on the decision of the Nepali people,” he said. “I have talked to every leader I met about proselytisation.”
