HYDERABAD: The State
Cabinet on Thursday decided to approach the Centre urging it to transfer the
reserve forest around Tirumala Hills to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

While Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who presided the meeting, felt that
an “unnecessary controversy” has been raised over the jurisdiction of TTD, Endowments
Minister JC Diwakar Reddy is understood to have dwelt on the alleged propagation
of Christianity on Tirumala Hills and the steps taken by the TTD administration
to counter the “misinformation? campaign.

Sources told this website’s newspaper that in order to put an end to
the speculation over the jurisdiction of TTD, the Cabinet has decided to approach
the Centre. “The Chief Minister will write to the Centre urging it transfer
reserve forest around the sacred Hills to the TTD,” they said.
